About Me
Hello, my name is Shanil Patel and I am currently in second year studying straight physics.
I am applying for the role of Vice President because I am passionate, interested and willing to get involved with the running and handling of PhysSoc. I am proud to say that I have attended the majority of PhysSoc events to date, this has helped me learn how the events are structured together and where possible improvements can be made. I am not a hard person to find, as I spend a lot of my spare time in the undergraduate common room, either working or socialising. I am someone that likes to have fun with what they do, which can be key to keeping a good morale with my colleagues during stressful times, which I am sure will be something that we experience in the year. I am an approachable and easy person to work with, which I understand are vital characteristics to have as Vice President, as I would be working closely alongside the future President. I also happen to have a Canon EOS 80D camera, which means I am always able to step in as media sec for PhysSoc events if need be.
My Experiences
During high school, I had given several speeches to different years groups, which has led me to obtain the skill of speaking confidently in front of large amounts of people. Previously in sixth form, I was appointed Deputy Head Boy, which resulted in me learning how to make important decisions and put forward ideas to my colleagues. I was a part of a team of 6 who organised a leavers prom for my year, this involved me having to be very organised with timings (I know what you are probably thinking of at this point LOL:/) and have excellent communication skills with my team and cohort. I have taken advice from the current Vice President to help equip myself in the best possible way for this role.
Lastly, I would like to say that if I am successful in becoming Vice President for PhysSoc, it will have my undivided attention. This would mean that I have no intentions to apply or want to apply for other various roles within physics or out of physics because to me, it's important that all my focus is used to continue making PhysSoc awesome for you!
Vote For Me!!
I hope I have persuaded you to agree with me that these skills that I have acquired over time would put me in the best possible position to serve PhysSoc as their next Vice President!
Be sure to come to the PhysSoc Q&A this Wednesday at 3PM and ask me questions!! The link to vote is below.
